NASAA President serves as National Reviewer of Student Veterans of America Million Records Project and Attends MRP Celebration in DC
The Student Veterans of America Million Records Project report combining data on veterans who have used Montgomery and Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits shows that 51.7 percent have received a postsecondary degree or certificate, a completion rate similar to traditional college students, and greater than other nontraditional students. This was just one of several interesting findings of the report released on March 24, 2014 by the SVA. President Joe Wescott served as one of two national reviewers of the draft report. He writes:
I predict that this will be the most frequently cited study of veterans in higher education in the coming year! In this study, we find a careful and concise analysis of data in such a way as to ensure both its validity and value. The study will prove equally valuable to researchers and policy makers. NASAA is especially pleased to support the efforts of SVA in this area, for the MRP not only demonstrates the persistence and success of our veterans, but also the importance of providing quality educational programs to our veterans. We pledge to continue our partnership with SVA and VA to ensure that student veterans have access to such programs with the promise of good jobs. As the gatekeepers of quality, State Approving Agencies look forward to the continued success of SVA and of our nation’s veterans.
